Think Pink!

by Sproosy

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is here, and these days how many of us haven’t been touched in some way by this disease? So what are we doing here at Sproosy to support this cause? We will be donating 10% from the fee of a Colour Sproos to Bermuda Cancer & Health Centre, and we will be wearing pink!

Pink is back in a big way for AW2015.  We can all wear it, but it is about getting the right pink for you.

For those of us with cool undertones to our complexions who suit soft muted hues (think Nicole Kidman), go for dusky, rose or pastel pinks.

If you have cool undertones but suit deeper, bright colours (Kate Middleton), choose jewel tones, magenta or deep pinks.

If you have warm undertones to your complexion and you look gorgeous in deep, muted colours (Jennifer Aniston), err towards peachy pinks.  Or add a purple or berry tone to your pinks.

Lastly, if those warm, light colours give you a radiant complexion (Cameron Diaz) choose salmon or coral pinks.

Not sure or not convinced about pink? Take it away from your face.  Shoes, bags, belts and other accessories can all provide a hint of colour without becoming the main component of the outfit.

How To Wear That Seventies Fashion Trend

by Sproosy

The ‘70s continue to be a huge fashion trend this season. The outfits from a decade past are still making their mark in Fall 2015 and aren't likely to fade into Spring also. So how do you make this tricky retro trend work in your closet if Bohemian isn't a part of your classic tendencies?  And how do you incorporate key pieces into your style repertoire without looking like you are in fancy dress?! Here are our top tips to help you rock this trend.

Limit yourself to one throwback piece per outfit to avoid looking kitsch. For example try the classic ‘70s A-line skirt with a tucked in classic Tee, simple knit or romantic blouse. Or introduce the floral trend with a midi skirt and offset with a more conservative knit and structured boot.

Hesitant about fringing? Then fringe through accessories. Try tassel earrings or necklace or choose a bag with fringing. This is a perfect way to test the trend without commitment.

Wear the must-have trouser shape – the wide-leg. It’s all about proportion to make this shape work and not look like a Woodstock throwback. Keep it sleek on top with a structured tee or an elongated tunic. Alternatively opt for the failsafe denim version of the wide leg – the skinny flare.

It’s time to try a jumpsuit! Not only is this a great go-to one piece outfit, there is one for everyone. Jumpsuit shy? Then opt for a darker shade and pair with a blazer to make it look more subtle. Can’t wait to don this key piece? Then opt for a v-neckline in a jewel tone for some bolder seventies fashion style.

Still not sure about the ‘70s fashion vibe? Then opt for boho inspired accessories - skip the flower crown and opt for a headband and loose, layered necklaces instead!

Hello Wedding Season

by Sproosy

Wedding Season is upon us and whether you have one wedding to attend or several, finding the right outfit can be a stressful sartorial experience. Picking the perfect ensemble for your figure that combines the right amount of style and adheres to wedding dress etiquette, can be quite a task. So here are some tips from us at Sproosy.

Want to go classic? There are plenty of go-to styles, but make it your own with the use of accessories. Think statement when it comes to your heels, jewellery and clutch.

Guess Metallic Strappy Sandals - available at Perry, Ivanka Trump Box Clutch - available at AS Cooper and Catherine Canino Necklace- available through Sproosy

Want to tap into a trend? Think colour blocking, lace, stripes and pleats to amp up your wedding look for summer 2015.

And what are those wedding outfit rules to bear in mind? Although white is becoming more commonplace at weddings, it may serve you well to err on the side of caution – choose something with a print or motif. For late afternoon weddings, wear something that easily transitions from day-to-night. An evening ceremony requires a cocktail ensemble. For beach or garden weddings, think about appropriate footwear – stylish and practical.

Fiesty Florals and lush greenery bare the make-up of the floral trend this spring. These full-on florals need simple touches to carry, such as a nip in at the waist with a simple belt. Don't be afraid to mix prints, just stick to a similar scale and one common colour for cohesion.

A spice rack colour palette including ochre, mustard, pepper and cinnamon. With all this warmth, add cooling pastels and try fluid silhouettes to nail this look.

The Seventies comes through in patchwork prints and peasant blouses. Wear just one throw back piece and pair with updated pieces to keep this trend current. Too scared you might look kitsch, then try something simple such as fringing on your bag.
